We're Remarkable Cows...

This year has started off slowly to say the least.  I do apologize for the severe lack of posting, but I was in desperate need of a break.  Now that I'm ready to get back to sewing, I needed a couple little projects to ease back into things.  So I made these!

When I first started doing paper-piecing I didn't have a large variety of fabrics to choose from... but that all changed one day that I happened to visit to the Salvation Army.  Sitting there amid the pillows and tablecloths were 3 HUGE bags full of partially-used fat quarters and fabric scraps!  It was my luckiest thrift store find ever!  I've used bits of fabric in just about every color... but there were some fabrics that came with the bunch that I honestly didn't know what to do with.  And that included this lovely cow print.

But what better stash-busting project is there than a pieced pot-holder?  It was actually quite fun to search through my stash for coordinating colors and I didn't need to use much material.  I fussy-cut the center squares and then took the opportunity to practice quilting "in the ditch." I sewed the binding on by hand, which was also good practice for some of the other projects I'm hoping to finish this year.

These turned out quite nicely.  ...And I still have a whole stack of random, I-don't-know-what-else-to-do-with-it fabrics that will probably also get the pot-holder treatment in the near future!

All Together Now

Last year I introduced you to three little rainbow-colored monsters that now live at my Craftsy store.  I have one last pattern to share with you that incorporates them all together in one large block.

At 18" x 12," this block would be perfect for a wall-hanging!  Like the other individual patterns, this one is available for sale in my Craftsy shop here.

You can also now purchase all four patterns together for one low price with the Rainbow Monster Super Pack!
